I'm sure many of you are eager for an update on how things are going in the Rowsell world. We are currently in Nova Scotia, Canada and are living with some wonderful friends.
I think it is safe to say that God takes us on some roller coaster rides and we have learned to be flexible. We thought everything was unfolding for us to be in Sweet Home, working with Youth for Christ and then suddenly doors shut. But God has been looking out for us and even orchestrating some amazing opportunities.
James has had it on his heart for a while to be a paramedic. When we had to unexpectedly come back to his home city, he started looking into options. God's timing always amazes me. Just at the beginning of this year, the medical system here decided to put forth money, time, and resources to flood more responders into the field. They put together a 3-month EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) course with a bursary (or scholarship) to encourage people to apply and participate in an area of need in the community. James applied, interviewed, and started the course in May! It is a really intensive and hands on program that gets them out in the field very quickly. And because of the bursary he will have a full time job partnering with a paramedic in the fall.
With our unexpected move to Canada, I didn't have too much time to figure out what to do here since I can't work. But the good thing is God always knows. Through some connections I heard about Okanagan Bible College. They have all online classes and let you work at your own pace. Since they are a Christian school, they recognized my past missions and YWAM experience and have put that towards my degree. So I will be starting as a third year student in the Bachelor's of Biblical Studies program.
So we are no longer going to be working with Youth For Christ at this time. We thought we might be able to go back in the fall but James' green card process is taking quite a long time with not a clear end in sight. Even though this is hard and disappointing, there are new things on the horizon.
We really loved our time in missions and ministry and we hope for God to call us back into that someway, somehow. But at this point we are going to be focusing on what is on our plates right now. We are always growing, learning, and leaning closer into God's plan.
Thank you all for partnering with us over these years. We hope it was as life-giving to you as it was to us. I'm not sure when we will do another update, but please continue to keep us in your prayers.
